I'm always around. And if you ever want extra moolah, people are STILL asking for your illustrations. I even changed the name of my business and they keep coming!
I'm so glad you posted these things on DA so I can write you nice comments about them, because they're all beautiful and I think they deserve real introspection. So, I'll do my (slow) best.
The thing is that you capture such a specific moment so nicely here. I'm always talking about how the lack of a background kind of loosens something from time and space, but you are so good at constructing characters through body language and expression that I think the flat background just makes the moment more pronounced. And the vibrancy of the colors in the candy and the costumes really make the sort of muted shade work here.
Things tossed aside, like the helmet/shield and Stan's hat, really form the idea that these kids have just rushed in from trick-or-treating and they've spilled their pumpkin buckets out and they're going through the candy. I love that little lump in Stan's cheek, how he's just stuffed a candy in his mouth and started vigorously chewing and Kyle just noticed and was like, "Whoa. WHOA. Slow down there, buddy. That's my candy." And Stan is like, "I know I need to swallow before I deal with this but ... yeah I'll just stare blankly for a moment."
And their posture, and the way Kyle's wig is slipping off and he's not even bothered because CANDY ALERT, and just the officious little way he's dealing with the semantics of candy distribution ... this is just such a perfect little moment. Thank you for drawing and posting it.
